Overview
Avalanche is a high-performance, open-source platform for launching decentralized applications and enterprise blockchain deployments. It employs a unique consensus mechanism that enables rapid transaction finalization and high throughput. The architecture consists of multiple blockchains, including the Primary Network which validates subnetworks (customizable Layer 1s). Subnetworks can define their own virtual machines and consensus rules, enabling tailored solutions for various use cases. Avalanche Interchain Messaging facilitates seamless communication between these chains. The AVAX token powers the network, used for transaction fees, staking, and governance. Developers benefit from a suite of tools and resources, including the Avalanche Academy and Builder Console, for simplifying development and deployment of decentralized applications.
