Overview
The ModMed FHIR API is a Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) certified API that facilitates the secure exchange of clinical health data between providers, patients, and other health systems. Compliant with the 21st Century Cures Act, the API maps ModMed's EMA and gGastro EHR systems to US Core Profiles, enhancing interoperability. It comprises two main APIs: the EMA Proprietary FHIR API (a tailored FHIR R4 implementation with OAuth2 security, sandbox environments, and extensions for practice-specific needs) and the EMA Certified FHIR API (an HL7 FHIR R4 compliant tool with SMART on FHIR capabilities and bulk data export in NDJSON format). The API enables patients to connect via patient portals and providers via patient charts, fostering streamlined healthcare data management and improved patient care.
